Cabell Huntington Hospital Enhances Patient Experience with New Discharge Lounge

Marshall Health Network - Cabell Huntington Hospital introduces an innovative solution for patients following an inpatient stay. The newly designed Discharge Lounge provides patients who are medically stable with a comfortable and stress-free environment following discharge.

This new service is part of the hospital’s continued commitment to enhancing the patient experience and ensuring a seamless transition from hospital to home.

“We recognize that the moments leading up to a patient’s departure are just as important as the care received during their stay,” said Tim Martin, Chief Operations Officer, Cabell Huntington Hospital. “The Discharge Lounge is designed to provide a relaxing and supportive environment that supports a smoother discharge experience, reinforcing our dedication to patient-centered care.”

The Discharge Lounge is available Monday through Friday from noon to 8 p.m. and offers a welcoming space where patients can relax while final discharge details are completed.

Features of the Discharge Lounge include comfortable seating, friendly and attentive staff to assist patients with any needs or concerns, complimentary snacks and beverages, and pharmacy coordination to help patients receive their prescribed medications before leaving the hospital.  

By offering a designated space for patients who are ready for discharge but waiting for transportation, the hospital aims to minimize stress while improving overall patient flow and satisfaction.
