Rivers Health Foundation Scholarship Winners Announced

Since 1989, the Rivers Health Foundation Scholarship Program, has awarded more than $970,000 in scholarships to over 225 students, supporting future health care professionals and strengthening our community.
This year, six students received a combined $29,000 in scholarships, including the $4,000 Vitus Hartley Jr. Scholarship. To be eligible for financial assistance from the Rivers Health Scholarship Foundation, the recipient must be a resident of Mason County, West Virginia, or Gallia or Meigs counties in Ohio.
The 2025 scholarship winners are:
- C. Samuel Pinkerton (pictured), recipient of the Vitus Hartley Jr. scholarship, is a senior attending the Marshall University School of Physical Therapy.
- Cohen Yates attends the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine at Marshall University.
- Havin Roush attends the Marshall University School of Nursing.
- Sarah Faith Nichols plans to attend the Holzer School of Nursing at the University of Rio Grande.
- Austin Everett Rykowski plans to attend the College of Nursing at Kent State University.
- Sophia Atkinson plans to pursue her Medical Laboratory Technology degree at Marshall University.
“The objective of the RH Foundation Scholarship Program is to encourage students to return to the community and utilize their skills in the local area,” said Georgianna Tillis, RH Foundations Director. “The aim of this board is helping local students realize their dream of becoming healthcare providers.”
