Dr. Paul Finch

Marshall Health Network (MHN) has named Paul T. Finch, M.D., medical director of the Marshall Health Network – Edwards Cancer Institute (ECI), effective Oct. 15.

In his new role, Finch will provide physician leadership for the Edwards Cancer Institute, working with oncology teams across Marshall Health Network and the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine to advance high-quality, coordinated cancer care throughout the region.

“Dr. Finch brings a strong combination of clinical expertise, physician leadership and a deep commitment to the patients and families we serve,” said Larry Dial, M.D., chief physician executive for Marshall Health Network and vice dean of clinical affairs at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. “His experience and collaborative approach will help us continue advancing coordinated, comprehensive cancer care and strengthening oncology services across our region.

Finch joined the Marshall clinical faculty in 2015 and currently serves as an associate professor and chief of pediatric oncology at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. He is board certified in pediatrics with subspecialty certification in pediatric hematology-oncology and brings more than a decade of experience caring for patients and families at Marshall, along with extensive clinical, academic and research experience.

“Having cared for patients and families in this community for more than a decade, I know how important it is to have access to exceptional cancer care close to home,” Finch said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to help lead the Edwards Cancer Institute and work with our talented teams to strengthen services, improve coordination and ensure every patient receives compassionate, comprehensive care.”

Finch succeeds Mary T. Legenza, M.D., who will retire and relocate at the end of the year. Drs. Finch and Legenza will serve as co-directors through the end of the year, working closely with oncology teams to ensure a smooth transition of leadership.

“We are incredibly grateful to Dr. Legenza for her years of leadership and the lasting impact she has made on our cancer program and the lives of so many patients,” Dial said. “Looking ahead, we remain committed to building on that strong foundation under Dr. Finch’s leadership—further integrating expertise across Marshall Health Network and the School of Medicine while expanding access to advanced, comprehensive cancer care throughout our region.”
