Rivers Health Secures $7 Million in Rural Hospital Grant Funding
Thursday, December 12, 2024
Rivers Health, a member of the Marshall Health Network, has been awarded $7 million in Rural Hospital Grant funding. Governor Jim Justice announced the funding this week.
This allocation is part of the state’s $40 million Rural Hospital Grant program, which was launched in October after the West Virginia Legislature appropriated funds during a special session. The program is designed to improve healthcare infrastructure and services at rural hospitals throughout West Virginia.
Rivers Health will utilize the $7 million grant to renovate and expand its Emergency Department, a project was announced at a ceremonial groundbreaking in late October. This modernization effort aims to enhance the hospital’s ability to deliver critical, high-quality care to the community.
“The Rural Hospital Grant funding is a transformative step for Rivers Health and the patients we serve,” said Justin Turner, Chief Operating Officer for Rivers Health. “By expanding and upgrading our Emergency Department, we’re strengthening our ability to meet the healthcare needs of our region for years to come. We are grateful to Governor Justice, the Legislature, and everyone involved for their commitment to rural healthcare.”
This investment underscores West Virginia’s and Marshall Health Network’s dedication to ensuring rural communities have access to advanced medical care and resources.
