Jensen Recognized for Contributions as Medical Director of Edwards Cancer Institute

Marshall Health Network is pleased to recognize James C. Jensen, M.D., FACS, for his outstanding service as the medical director of the Edwards Cancer Institute.
“Over the past seven years as medical director, Dr. Jensen has demonstrated exceptional leadership, contributing significantly to the growth of the Edwards Cancer Institute as a regional cancer care destination,” said Kevin Yingling, R.Ph., M.D., emeritus CEO and senior advisor, Marshall Health Network.
“We are grateful for Dr. Jensen’s nearly 20-year commitment to Huntington. In the early 2000s, he brought unparalleled expertise in urologic oncology and robotic surgery, helping to establish West Virginia’s leading robotic surgery program,” stated Yingling. “As medical director of the Edwards Cancer Institute, Dr. Jensen has focused on building a multidisciplinary team of oncology subspecialists to meet the growing cancer care needs for patients in our region.”
A board-certified urologic oncologist, Dr. Jensen is world-renowned in robotic, urologic surgery with more than 10,000 hours of experience using the da Vinci® Surgical System. Since joining Cabell Huntington Hospital in 2007, he has performed more than 1,800 robotic kidney, bladder and prostate cancer procedures and was among the first 20 physicians in the United States to adopt robotic surgery as a full-time practice. Dr. Jenson is also a Surgeon of Excellence, designated by the Surgery Review Council.
Dr. Jensen will continue to provide patient care and serve as Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. Mary T. Legenza, M.D., FACS, has been named the next medical director of Edwards Cancer Institute and chair of oncology at the School of Medicine.
