Applications for the Pleasant Valley Hospital (PVH) Health Foundation Scholars Program, which provides financial assistance to local students pursuing careers in health care, are now available.
High school guidance counselors and families who wish to request applications for their student may do so by calling Georgianna Tillis at 304.675.4340, ext. 1423, or by emailing gtillis@pvalley.org. Applications can also be downloaded from the website by visiting pvalley.org/about/pvh-foundation/scholarships.
The PVH Health Foundation initiated the financial aid program in the late 1980s to support health care professionals in both the Ohio Valley and state of West Virginia, and to offset the increasing costs of higher education. Since that time, 216 students have benefited from the scholarship program.
To be eligible for financial assistance from the PVH Health Foundation, the recipient must:
- Be a resident of Mason County, West Virginia, or Gallia or Meigs counties in Ohio
- Have graduated from an accredited high school or possess a GED certificate
- Have been accepted for admission and declared a major area of study in a clinical health care field at an accredited program of higher education in West Virginia or Ohio
- Submit two letters of reference from individuals familiar with the applicant’s academic and/or employment history, as well as copies of official school transcripts, to: PVH Health Foundation, c/o Georgianna Tillis at 2520 Valley Drive, Point Pleasant, WV, 25550.
Application materials must be received by the PVH Health Foundation by Saturday, April 1, 2023.
