Registration now open for Sept. 27 Path to the Cure

Registration is now open, inviting individuals, families, businesses and community organizations to join the annual event, offering a 5K walk/run, family-friendly activities, entertainment, team tailgating and opportunities to celebrate cancer survivors and remember loved ones. More than a race, Path to the Cure raises funds to support patients receiving care through Edwards Cancer Institute, helping fund programs and services that ease the financial burden of cancer treatment for patients and families throughout the region. 

"Path to the Cure is a powerful reminder of what our community can accomplish when we come together in support of friends, neighbors and loved ones affected by cancer," said Chris Hoffman, vice president of oncology services at Marshall Health Network. "Funds raised through this event directly benefit patients receiving cancer care across Marshall Health Network, helping ensure they have access to services and resources that make a meaningful difference throughout treatment and recovery." 

In addition to event participation, community members may purchase personalized "Survivor", "Warrior" and "Memorial" banners to honor or remember someone impacted by cancer. Displayed throughout Pullman Square during October before becoming keepsakes for families, the banners offer a meaningful way to celebrate a survivor, encourage someone in treatment or remember a loved one while supporting local cancer care. Banner sales are available through Aug. 31, or while supplies last. 

“Each banner tells a story of courage, hope and love," said Matt James, vice president of foundations for Marshall Health Network. "Whether honoring a survivor, encouraging someone in treatment or remembering a loved one, these tributes reflect the strength of our community and the lives touched by cancer." 

Path to the Cure will be held from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with the 5K beginning at 1 p.m. Participants who register by Sept. 14 will receive a commemorative event T-shirt while supplies last. Businesses, community organizations and individuals are encouraged to form teams, volunteer or become event sponsors.
